Coast Guard Fitness Screening Test

The Coast Guard uses the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) to assess the physical readiness of recruits and active-duty personnel. The PFT consists of the following components:

1. 1.5-Mile Run:

  • Event: Run 1.5 miles.
  • Requirement: Complete in under 12 minutes and 30 seconds for men and 14 minutes for women. Times may vary based on age and gender.

2. Push-Ups:

  • Event: Maximum number of push-ups.
  • Requirement: Minimum of 27 push-ups for men and 20 for women. The number required for a higher score can vary.

3. Sit-Ups:

  • Event: Maximum number of sit-ups in 1 minute.
  • Requirement: Minimum of 35 sit-ups for men and 30 for women.

4. Swim:

  • Event: 500-yard swim.
  • Requirement: Complete in under 12 minutes and 30 seconds.

 

Training and Conditioning Program
  1. Recruit Training (Basic Training):
